The Spirit of Truth

The Spirit of Truth

John 14:15-17

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

The Spirit of truth, is God the Holy Ghost, The Comforter (Greek parakletos: an intercessor, consoler: advocate, comforter. Strong’s # G3875). The Holy Ghost is the Comforter of the children of the covenant; and it is He who gives life to those who are chosen and redeemed (Ezekiel 16:6). The unregenerate world cannot receive the Spirit of truth, because there is no truth in that world (John 8:43-45) it cannot see Him nor can it know Him, because that world is spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1). “He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore (the Pharisees) hear them not: because ye are not of God.” (John 8:47; 10:26). God the Holy Ghost goes by several different names, just a few will be mentioned: The Spirit, The Spirit of Christ, The Spirit of God, The Comforter, The Eternal Spirit, The Spirit of: Adoption, Counsel, Glory, Grace, Holiness, Judgment, Knowledge, Life, Lord God, Might, Prophesy, Understanding, Wisdom, The Son, and The Father: see (I John 5:7); it is He who quickens whom He will; (John 5:21) and He quickens by engrafting the word of truth in the heart of those to whom He gives life (James 1:18-21) which is the incorruptible seed (I Peter 1:23); and to the children of the covenant: it is the “word of life” (Philippians 2:16) from Christ Jesus who is the living Word (John 1:1; 6:63).

“God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24). The order of requirements for true worship are note worthy: they that worship must worship, first, in spirit and; consequently in truth. For without the Spirit there can be no heart knowledge of spiritual truth, although there may be illumination of the natural intellect: yet, without the gracious effectual influence of the Spirit there will be no light of gospel truth shined into the heart, and therefore none shining in the heart of any son of Adam. There will be no love of the gospel of God, nor love of the God of the gospel; but, whosoever the Spirit of God teaches He gives a heart for the doctrine taught: the elect love the doctrine of election, those who are justified by the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ love that truth, those who are taught of God, love the gospel of God as it is written in the Bible. As it is written: “And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.” (Isaiah 54:13; see John 6:45) The Spirit of truth teaches as none else can: He binds in love the doctrine He teaches: the affections of those who are taught are fixed on Jesus Christ and His truth, as it is presented in the word of God.  As it is written: “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of the invisible God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Jesus Christ the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (II Corinthians 4:3-6).

God the Holy Ghost is the great teacher of the New Covenant; (Hebrews 8:11) the Spirit of God is the unction (the Greek word here translated unction is “chrismah” an unguent or smearing, i.e. figuratively the endowment with the Holy Spirit: anointing –unction: Strong’s # G5545) or anointing from the Holy One Christ Jesus (I John 2:20); by whom the church of God is taught all things that are necessary to be believed by those who are given: first the Spirit, with the garments of salvation; and the robe of righteousness, the wedding garment (Romans 5:17; Matthew 22:11-12; Isaiah 61:10).  The world of the unregenerate is dead in trespasses and in sins; and, therefore, cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3); the world which is dead in trespasses and in sins (Ephesians 2:1-3) knows nothing of the things of the Spirit of God, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching (the preaching of the cross of Jesus Christ, the world regards as foolishness: writer) to save them that believe.” (I Corinthians 1:21). But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, (this wisdom is taught by the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive: writer) even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:” (I Corinthians 2:7). The unction from Christ, is “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (Ephesians 1:17) as it is written: “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” (I John 2:20) the unction from Christ Jesus which is the Holy Spirit, is to the children of the covenant a spirit of life (Romans 8:2; Ezekiel 16:6); and through that life the children of the covenant are given ears to hear that which nature (the natural man) cannot hear: as said the Apostle John (He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches:” (Revelation 2:7, 11; see Matthew 13:9-17). And our Lord Jesus said: “Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24). And again He said: “ Verily, Verily, I say unto you he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (John 6:47). The vital sign of spiritual life is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for he that liveth and believeth shall never die: Christ Jesus said to Martha: “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whoso liveth and believeth in me, shall never die. “ (John 11:25-26). Sinner: believest thou this? Those who believe this are quickened and taught of the Spirit of God, and show themselves to be “the children of God, being the children of the resurrection” (Luke 20:36; I Corinthians 12:3).

The quickening of the Spirit gives the quickened one an ability to hear and understand what he hears, for, the Spirit Himself is the quickening principle of the new life: under the Old Testament He was with the people of God, but under the New Testament He is in them (I Corinthians 6:19-20): so that, the quickened one is capable of receiving more of the things the Spirit teaches. “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” (Matthew 13:12, 19).  The quickened one is given all fullness of grace, he is given the inheritance of grace: “all spiritual blessing in heavenly places in Christ:” (Ephesians 1:3). In that he is quickened (made alive), he is able to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. A-men.” (II Peter 3:18).

Growth in grace is through growth in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior; as the living children of God grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus their trust in him grows, and their self-confidence diminishes. When by His instruction the quickened one sees “the plague of his own heart” (I Kings 8:38) then his pride falls to the ground, and meekness replaces haughtiness, and humility replaces a proud look. The quickened one is made meek and lowly in spirit, as is his master; and he learns to depend, not on himself, but to depend on Christ Jesus. Growth in grace is growth in our gracious disposition toward the things that surround us, realizing that out Lord Jesus works all things after the counsel of His own will (Ephesians 1:11). “ According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertains unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:” (II Peter 1:3).  There is no growth in holiness, nor in righteousness, for the children of God are holy in the holiness of Jesus Christ; and Christ Jesus is “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 23:6): as it is written “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (I Corinthians 1:30-31).

Our Lord Jesus informed His disciples of His departure to the Father; because of that, sorrow had filled their hearts; and therefore He said: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.” (John 16:7) The Holiness and Truth of God required satisfaction for sins committed against His Divine Majesty, the smallest infraction of His law must meet its punishment, the curse, brought about by disobedience must be endured; and God must be reconciled by vengeance being executed on the offender of His law. For God will not cry peace, peace when there is no peace (Jeremiah 6:14; 8:11). Our Lord Jesus said “But now I go my way to Him that sent me:” (John 16:5). His way of departure was the cross; He as Surety of the everlasting covenant of grace was appointed to stand responsible for the covenant children’s disobedience. The debt of death, must be paid the to law and justice of God; before the children of the covenant could receive the good things purposed in the covenant of God for His children. Therefore Christ Jesus must fulfill the law of God, not only by perfect obedience to its precept; but also by the complete satisfaction of its penalty: He must die in the stead of the children of the covenant, under the just vengeance of the justice of God. Therefore the Comforter could not come until the justice of God stood satisfied, propitiated, by the propitiation of the Just and Holy One (I John 2:2). For Christ Jesus is the propitiation of the sins of the whole world; not for the world that cannot receive the Spirit of Truth; but for the whole world of the elect of God (I John 5:19; 2:15-16; James 4:4; Revelation 12:9) who stood in the Surety-ship of Christ from before the foundation of the world. For the purpose and grace of God was given us (the election of grace) in Christ Jesus before the world began (II Timothy 1:9). Christ Jesus as “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” (Revelation13:8) had, according to the covenant: in the purpose and grace of God, paid the debt before it was actually made. In each generation there is a “remnant according to the election of grace” (Romans 11:5) whose debt is paid (John 1:29); and because they have no sin imputed (Romans 4:6-8; II Corinthians 5:19) no sin recorded (Jeremiah 50:20) they stand in grace (Romans 5:1-2): justified by the blood and righteousness of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:9). Therefore every son of Adam; who is made willing, may come to Jesus Christ: as it is written: “And the Spirit and the bride say, come. And let him that heareth say, come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17) Thus saith the Lord “ All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37).

Behold The Lamb of God

Behold The Lamb of God

John 1:29

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

In a few short words the last of Old Testament Prophets gave witness to the Person and Work of the Son of God. In these few words John the Baptist said more than most modern preachers say in their entire preaching career. For most of the things said by preachers in our days are half truths; and whole lies. So that all they say is not worth hearing. They speak of free moral agency; and of Man’s free will, in sharp contradiction of the word of Christ who said He came “to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18). Modern preachers speak of the ability of man to decide his own destiny; while the Prophets of God speak of man’s slavery to sin and Satan: as it is written “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive be delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.” (Isaiah 49:24-25). Today preachers speak much of the power of the will of man; and say nothing of the power of the Christ of Holy Scripture, to deliver His children of the covenant (Acts 3:25); but will not speak of the Sovereignty of God, the total depravity of the heart of natural men, nor of the inability of man to overcome the evil in his own heart, and the enmity of his mind to the law of God, and to the God of the law (Romans 8:7; I Corinthians 2:14).

In just a few short words John the Baptist made clear who Jesus of Nazareth is: Jesus of Nazareth is the only begotten Son of God, as it is written: “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:” (Genesis 22:8). Christ Jesus: God the Son: is the Lamb of God’s providing and the Lamb is himself the God who provided Himself The Lamb of God. Jesus of Nazareth is God manifest in flesh, (I Timothy 3:16) one with the Father (John 10:30) and in whom dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9). He is the Great High Priest of the everlasting covenant of grace (Psalm 110:4; Hebrews 5:5-10; 7:11-19; 8:6; 13:20) He is the sacrifice that has taken away the sin of the church of God, by one offering and forever (Hebrews 9:26; Isaiah 53:10-12; Daniel 9:24) for, by one offering He hath perfected forever them that are sanctified (Hebrews 10:14).

Jesus of Nazareth is the Surety of the people of God, and therefore is responsible to the Father to bring His many sons to glory (Hebrews 7:22). It is not now and has never been the responsibility of any son of Adam to make peace with God, that is something far outside the reach of men (Job 9:33; Isaiah 1:18; Hebrews 1:3). It took God the Son robed in Human flesh to make peace between God and man. As it is written “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” (II Corinthians 5:19). In our subject verse the Apostle calls upon the people of God to “Behold the Lamb of God”.

Behold the Lamb of God, behold His glorious Person: He is Deity robed in Humanity; He is God and Man in one Person; one Person with two distinct and separate natures; for the Deity was not made humanity, nor was the humanity made Deity, there is no mixture of the two separate natures, for if there were mixture of the natures in Christ: He would be no Mediator: for He would not be God to intercede for man, nor would He be man to propitiate the justice of God for men. But in that His natures are separate and distinct: He is “One chosen out of the people” (Psalm 89:19) to satisfy the justice of God; and He is “the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts:” (Zechariah 13:7); He is the eternal Word made flesh (John 1:14) and He is “The Mighty God, The everlasting Father; so that both natures acting in one glorious and absolutely peerless and unique Person He is The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6). As the Christ of God He is one with His People; as well as one with His Father (John 10:30; 14:20; 17:20-21; Ephesians 5:30: I Corinthians 12:12-27; Romans 12:5; Colossians 1:18) therefore as Christ the Mediator, the Daysman betwixt God and man, He can lay His hand upon both to make peace by the blood of His cross (Colossians 1:20). As the Christ of God He is immutable holiness: (Hebrews 13:8); and is made the holiness of His people (I Corinthians 1:30) In His Person He is, holy, harmless, undefiled, and separate from sinners, (Hebrews 7:26) while bareing the sins of the Old Testament and the New Testament saints “in his own body on the tree” (I Peter 2:24) the Holy one of God.

The Godhead of Jesus Christ makes all the undertakings of His Person infallible, “He shall not fail” (Isaiah 42:4). His Deity upholds all the undertakings of His Humanity, His Deity provides infinity, and absolute efficacy to all that the Man Christ Jesus undertakes in His glorious Person: therefore the glory of His priesthood is infinite and infallible, and in that priesthood He perfects forever by those who were set apart in the everlasting covenant of grace: having been loved of the Father as He had loved His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 7:11-22; 10;14; John 17:23-24).

Therefore it is manifest that the christ who wants to do anything that is not accomplished is a fraud. The christ who wants to accomplish that which is never accomplished, is not the Son of God, he is not God the Son, he is not the Mediator, nor is he the Savior of the people of God; but he is the christ of the natural understanding of unregenerate men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). The Christ of Holy Writ, was sent into this world “to save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21) there is no possibility that He will fail in that undertaking. If He had failed He would not be where He is now, that is, at the right hand of God sitting in His throne, (Psalm 110:1; Revelation 3:21) if He had failed He would not have been raised from the dead, for He would not have finished the work the Father gave Him to do, that would have been to come short of the commandment of God, which is sin, a thing which is impossible in the Christ of God, for: “in Him is no sin” (I John 3:5).

The Christ of Holy Scripture has saved “His people from their sins” this is what He declared in His great high priestly prayer, saying: “I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” (John 17:4). In the death of Christ He destroyed him that had the power of death, that is the devil, (Hebrews 2:14) He was manifest to destroy the works of the devil (I John3:8), Christ Jesus said “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out (John 12:31); and at the cross Christ Jesus said “IT IS FINISHED and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost” (John19:30). Now Satan’s prison house lays in shambles, the bars are broken for the children of God, Satan is cast out and can no longer accuse the brethren who Christ Jesus Has Justified, for, they are made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ (II Corinthians 5:21). As it is written: “Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Romans 8:33-34). Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: as it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:” (Galatians 3:13). Therefore God saith “Deliver him (one of God’s elect, writer) from going down into the pit: I have found a ransom. (Job 33:24).  Our Lord Jesus Christ did not come into this world to save all men! (Matthew 1:21; 7:23; 13:13). God does not love all Men! (Psalm 5:5; 53:5; Romans 9:13; 11:7-10). God loves and has loved all whom He has reserved in Christ Jesus, (Jeremiah 50:20; Jude 1:1; Romans 11:4; I Corinthians 1:2) and He loves and has loved them as He loves and has loved Jesus Christ. (John17:23-24; 14:20; Romans 8:39)

My Covenant With Them

My Covenant With Them

Isaiah 59:21

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy month, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from hence forth and for ever.

My soul, what promise of the Most High is this?  The word of truth made effectual by the Spirit of God never fails to bring salvation (I Peter 1:21-23); and this is the promise of The Most High; it is His covenant of promise (Ephesians 2:12). For, He saith “this is my covenant with them saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words that I have put in thy mouth shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from hence forth and for ever.” Who is here addressed as them, for He saith my covenant is with them? And who is addressed as thee? For the Spirit of God is upon Him, and the words of the Most High are in His mouth.

This can be none other than Christ Jesus: God-Man, Mediator, Great High Priest, Surety, Savior, Immanuel, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, The propitiation of the justice of God, The Mercy seat, The Head Stone of the corner of the House of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth (I Timothy 3:15). It is Christ Jesus who is the Word made flesh, to whom God giveth the Spirit without measure, (John 3:34); and in whose mouth is the word of God; for, He is the Word of God (John 1:1). They with whom the covenant in Christ is made are the individual members of Christ: (I Corinthians 12:12-13, 27) church of the living God which is His body (Romans 12:5; Ephesians 1:23; 4:12; Colossians 1:18, 24; 2:19).

This covenant is “ordered in all things and sure” (II Samuel 23:5). The Hebrew word here translated “ordered” is aw-rak, it means to “set in a row, that is, to put in order, arrange, (see Strong’s exhaustive concordance # H6186). Everything in and about this covenant is arranged, and set in order, prepared to fix the outcome of the events occurring between the eternities according to the sovereign will of Him who arranged everything according to His own purpose and grace (Ephesians 1:3-11; 3:11-21; II Timothy 1:9). “Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.” (Acts 15:18).

In the covenant a Mediator was appointed: one chosen out of the people: with whom the covenant was made: “I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah. (Psalm 89:3; Galatians 3:16, 29).  “Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him;” (Psalm 89:19-20). And He saith: “Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” (Psalm 45:6-7). The appointed Mediator is “The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6). This child that is born in our nature (sin excepted), is the Son of God, who is come to confirm the covenant, to ratify the covenant with His own precious blood. This God-Man Mediator is the Lord Jesus Christ; and it is He who has confirmed the covenant, for it is written: “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight; to whom be glory for ever and ever. A-men.” (Hebrews 13:20-21).  It is through the blood of the everlasting covenant that Christ Jesus was raised from the dead: it was according to the terms of the covenant that the sins of the people of God were charged to the Lord Jesus Christ; for it is written: “for the transgression of my people was he stricken” (Isaiah 53:8) “and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6).  The LORD has laid on Jesus Christ all the sins of all those who He calls my people. These are the people who are named in the covenant (Acts 3:25): whose names are written in heaven, (Hebrews 12:23), and whose names have been written there from before the foundation of the world; when in the discriminating love of God: He chose not to write others. (I John 4:10, 19: John 17:23; Romans 8:39; Revelation 13:8).

The covenant of God, does not rest upon the works of men, for the blessing of men: but the covenant of God rests upon the finished work of one man, Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Abraham, the Son of David, The Son of Mary, The Son of God: who finished the work the Father gave him to do (John 17:4; 19:30).  All spiritual blessedness for the children of God is the free gift of God to His children. And is purchased by the sufferings and death of Christ; according to the terms of the covenant: made with Jesus Christ, and sealed to the children of the covenant by His precious blood. These spiritual gifts are for time and eternity, they have been hidden in the secret things of God in ages past, but are now made known to the sons of men by the preaching of the gospel (Deuteronomy 29:29; I Peter 1:20; II Timothy 1:10).  It is the office of the Holy Spirit of God to make the covenant effectual to the children of the covenant through the preaching of the gospel.

A bare proposal of the gospel, the word preached, not being mixed with faith, which is the fruit of the Spirit of God will profit little: “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2). Gospel preaching is made effectual to the sons of men by the Holy Ghost, without His unction (I John2:20), there will be no true turning to Christ in godly repentance. Although there may be a great deal of religious zeal and repentance that must be repented of, still: there will be no true turning to God through Jesus Christ. “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
(II Corinthians 7:10). The sorrow of the world is sorrow of a legal sort, for it puts a man on amending his way in hope of gaining eternal life thereby, this is the way of natural religion, and the way of death. This is the way that seemeth right. (Proverbs 16:25). But the end thereof is death.

A profession of faith, apart from the effectual grace of the Holy Ghost is a false profession. For our Lord Jesus said: “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment because the prince of this world is judged.” (John 16:7-11).

The Holy Sprit reproves, or convinces of sin because of unbelief. Sin is imputed, or charged to every sinner who does not believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. Unbelief is the highest affront to the truth and holiness of God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, that, men not believing His record concerning the Son; make Him a liar (I John 5: 10). Contrary-wise: “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” (Romans 4:3).

The Holy Spirit reproves of righteousness, because Christ Jesus has gone to the Father and the world sees him no more. The Jews, and Gentiles, men of the world in the high religious, and political office: condemned the Just One and crucified Him as a malefactor, a deceiver of the people, one not fit to live among society. But God raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand far above all principality and power, and above every name that is named. Thus owning His Son as the perfect; and Just One, and owning the merit and value of His death as the only justifying righteousness that is accepted of God.

The Holy Ghost reproves the world of judgment because the prince of this world is judged. Satan is now cast out, (John 12:31) by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Satan is Judged and destroyed, the works of Satan are in ruins because of the death of Jesus Christ. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the children of God are freed from the accusations of Satan, for their sins are put away forever, as it is written: “There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:1) and again “Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemeth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Romans 8: 33-34).

It is the grace of the Spirit of God that makes the gospel message effectual to hearts of the people of God. Without His grace death prevails. “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63).
